Vivid’s New Condom-Optional Policy
Director Chi Chi LaRue has stopped directing straight productions exclusively for Vivid effective immediately due to Vivid changing its condom-only policy.
“I was scheduled to do a Savanna Samson movie and I was informed that the company is going condom-optional and that’s absolutely their right and I totally understand it,” LaRue told AVN.com. “But, as a person who has been very vocal about condom usage in every aspect of the gay business as well as the straight and as a person who went to work for Vivid because of their mandatory condom policy, I had to stop directing for them once it became condom-optional.”
The first condom-optional movie, a big-budget film shot last week, tentatively titled Fashion Under Ground, stars Tera Patrick , Lanny Barby, Penny Flame and Steven St. Croix and was directed by Paul Thomas for release later this year. Steven Hirsch, CEO of Vivid, said that none of the performers chose to wear condoms.

Chi Chi LaRue hat sich aufgrund der neuen Firmen-Politik bei Vivid dazu entschlossen, den Exklusiv-Vertrag als Regisseur für Hetero-Filme mit sofortiger Wirkung aufzukündigen.
“Ich sollte einen neuen Savanna Samson Film drehen und wurde davon in Kenntnis gesetzt, dass die Darsteller bei Vivid ab sofort die Wahl haben, wenn es um die Verwendung von Kondomen geht, was ihr absolutes Recht ist,” so LaRue in einem AVN Interview. “Aber als jemand, der sich immer sehr für die Verwendung von Kondomen in Gay- sowie auch in Hetero-Produktionen ausgesprochen hat und jemand, der gerade deshalb bei Vivid angefangen hat, musste ich mit der Regie-Arbeit bei diesem Label aufhören”.
Der erste Film unter dieser neuen Firmenpolitik, ein Big-Budget Film namens “Fashion Under Ground” mit Tera Patrick, Lanny Barby, Penny Flame und Steven St. Croix in den Rollen, wurde letzte Woche unter der Regie von Paul Thomas abgedreht und wird im Laufe des Jahres veröffentlicht. Laut Steven Hirsch, Vivid’s CEO, wollte keiner der Darsteller mit Kondomen arbeiten.
